Spinworkx First Mount #36 - Double or Nothing with Mindbend (Back)

Remember Spinworkx First Mount #31? It was the Trapeze with Mindbend (Back) Mount. Here, First Mount #36 has the exact same logic as #31, but instead of a simple Trapeze, you have to get into a Double or Nothing and then getting the Mindbend to wrap around the yo-yo.

Let's begin to explain how the Double or Nothing with Mindbend (Back) is performed.

First, throw a straight Breakaway. It doesn't need to be too strong a Breakaway as you would not want the yo-yo to be swinging too fast.

As the yo-yo is swinging upwards, let it hit your non-throw hand index finger and continue around to your throwing hand index finger before heading back to your non-throwing hand index.

As soon as the yo-yo comes back around to hit your non-throw hand index, slack the string over and into the yo-yo gap from the back. When the yo-yo string is caught / wrapped around the bearing, it should end up appearing like a regular Double or Nothing. However, when you try to hop the yo-yo up or off the string, you should not be able to as there is a mindbend around the yo-yo.

And there you have it, the Double or Nothing with Mindbend (Back) Mount.

A few pointers to take note of when learning the Double or Nothing with Mindbend (Back) Mount:
1) Remember not to throw your Breakaway too hard.
2) When throwing the slacked string into the yo-yo, aim and swing the string from the back into the yo-yo gap.
3) Try doing this Mount slowly to get the idea and the hang of the trick.

There you have it, #36 of the Spinworkx First Mount Project.

2015 is here and we have to say goodbye to 2014. With that, as always, we will take a look back at what were the most popular Kendamas & Yo-Yos from 2014. These are the items that all Kendama & Yo-Yo players chose for their weapon of choice and we were so excited to see which ones would remain from the Best of 2013 and which ones would be dethroned. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So there you have it, the Best of 2014 list. As you can see, the FAST 201 and the Speedaholic is still reigning supreme in the Beginner and Entry level unresponsive plastic yo-yo categories. Tough to beat those yo-yos when they play great and come at a great price point.

However, a new entry is the sOMEThING Addiction which was the top Hybrid yo-yo for 2014. Great yo-yo that provides spinners with smooth and long-spinning performance.

There is no surprise what was the best affordable metal from 2014. It was clearly the year of the Shutter, with Gentry winning US Nationals in 2013 and the World Yo-Yo Contest in 2014, the Shutter was the choice of many players. Not just those competing on stage, but players who wanted their first unresponsive metal yo-yo chose the Shutter as well. Awesome performance at an awesome price point. We cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store for the affordable metal market.

Now, the Barracuda and the Loop 1080 got promotions from 2013 to become the top yo-yos in their categories for 2014. They are great yo-yos and it is tough to argue with these choices. The high-end metal yo-yo category may be facing some tough competition from the affordable metals but we shall see what comes forth in 2015. Some contenders for 2015 would probably be the sOMEThING SLASHER and the YoYoFactory Space Cowboy. Maybe something newer will spring out, so it is going to be very exciting to see what 2015 has in store for the high-end metal yo-yo category!

There issn't much changes for the rest of the categories, with the yoyorecreation Aeronaut still reigning supreme for 4A and the accessories still mostly the same.

Before signing off, the Spinworkx store at Orchard Central and our webstore still have these yo-yos and products available. So if you feel like you are missing out on something, there is still time to pick them up!

Till our 'Best of 2015' list, keep Spinning and have a great 2015!

APYOYO2014 Clip #3 - The Wild Style

Presenting Clip #3 from the Asia Pacific Yo-Yo Championships 2014. This clip features the Spingear Crew (Taka, Ryuya, Mai) who put up a spectacular show on stage showcasing more than just yo-yoing. Super fun and entertaining, the Spingear Crew always brings the excitement straight to you! This Clip Video also features a cameo from everyone's favorite Emcee, make some noise, Cheng!

The series of videos were done by local video/film producer Eric Lee (Ratchild Lee Fur Fur), formerly with Nylon doing their online videos. It is interesting to see these videos being made as it comes from someone who has no prior background of what to expect from a yo-yo event, let alone modern yo-yo tricks.

Till the next video, enjoy!
