Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #20 - Yuuki Transition

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the Twentieth (and final) trick (for now) in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have an entry-level 'Tech' trick that every yo-yo player should learn. This trick will definitely add something to your combo or when you are creating tricks, and if you can develop your own variation from this move, even better! Presenting the Yuuki Transition.

Yuuki Spencer needs no introduction. Anyone who has been playing with yo-yos for awhile must know him. Yuuki has developed and pushed technical 1A tricks back in the early 2000s, and up till today, comes up with fresh and exciting new concepts every now and then. Yuuki is a 2x World 1A Champion, and definitely belongs in anyone's list of favorite players.

In the trick tutorial video, Marcus did a great job in breaking down each step of this trick, so we won't try to describe it with words. It may look a bit complex when done quickly, but break it down step by step and you'll be able to get it. Technical 1A play is really cool to watch as it is just amazing how these players can think of such tricks. When Yuuki did this trick back in the day, it astounded everyone. Now, years later, people have finally caught on to this trick and can finally do it with more ease.

Definitely learn this trick to add to your combos or to amaze fellow yo-yo players! Do remember that if you have any questions, you can always hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

Thanks for following us throughout all these 20 tricks that we have done together with Throw Revolution. As always, remember to have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #19 - Horizontal Braintwister

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the Nineteenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a Horizontal-style trick that was made popular in the late 2000s. Almost every contest player in the late 2000s had to/tried to include a Horizontal style trick in their freestyles to rack up the points, and one of those tricks was the Horizontal Braintwister as seen here.

Horizontal style tricks were made popular by 4x 1A World Champion, Hiroyuki Suzuki, and can been seen in practically every freestyle these days.

There issn't much to say or describe about the Horizontal Braintwister. One of the main tips that you must know before attempting this trick is that before doing it horizontally, you must be able to do this entire trick from a regular Trapeze before even considering going horizontal. Practice makes perfect, so keep going at it. When you are ready to take it horizontal, try the trick at progressive angles before getting it completely flat and horizontal.

The Horizontal Braintwister is a really cool trick that can be done not only in contest freestyles, but during public performances as well. It is a very impressive looking trick that is bound to amaze spectators seeing modern yo-yoing as compared to yo-yoing from the past.

To end this Trick Tutorial off, do remember that if you have any questions, you can always hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

With that, have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #18 - Seasick

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the eighteenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have an old-school trick from the very early 2000s that is easy in theory, but hard to master and execute. This trick is called Seasick!

The Seasick trick was created by Gary Longoria, a pioneer in 1A tricks from back in the day, and is one of the pioneer generation of Spindox, where lots of technical and creative 1A tricks was thought up and conceived. The early 2000s was a spectacular era for yo-yos as tons of new concepts, mounts and combos were developed, and these tricks were thought impossible just a couple of years prior.

Now, getting to the Seasick trick, Seasick is actually a repeater trick. Though it may seem easy to understand, performing it just like how Gary would do it is extremely challenging! We recommend that you know and perfect the Boing-Boing trick before attempting the Seasick.

Seasick starts from a traditional Split Bottom Mount and takes off from there. When performing the Seasick, a tip (albeit a bit confusing) is when you first pop up the yo-yo for the beginning of the Seasick, you first move your throw hand upwards and your non-throw hand lags behind and follows the throw hand shortly after. The entire motion should be as flowy as possible.

Whenever your throw hand moves up, your non-throw hand should follow behind. Same goes for when the throw hand moves down.

When the Seasick trick is mastered, it looks really cool and it is a trick that you don't see much of these days. Great for performances and when trying to showcase something simple, yet incredible looking.
To end this Trick Tutorial off, do remember that if you have any questions, you can always hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick! The Seasick takes lots of practice and work, so if you intend to learn and master this, and just cant seem to get it right, be sure to come down and ask us to help you out!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #17 - Japan Swing

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the seventeenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a trick that looks simple, but there are tiny elements that may make it harder for new players. Before attempting the Japan Swing trick, you must know how to do Double or Nothing, Trapeze Brother, Kwijibo and Roller Coaster!

This trick is a cool looking trick that is a variant of old school trick, Candy Rain. If you have mastered the Japan Swing moving forward, go check out Candy Rain and give that a shot too.

For Japan Swing, just ensure that throughout the duration of the trick, your yo-yo must always be straight and the string is centered. If not, your yo-yo will start snagging, or may even bind back unexpectedly, causing all kinds of problems!

We won't go into the specific breakdown of the trick as it has been laid out well in the video, so give it a go and when you have mastered it, develop your own variations. The cool thing about the Japan Swing is that you can perform it really quickly in your combo or routine to make the entire segment look more flashy and cool.

To end this Trick Tutorial off, do remember that if you have any questions, you can always hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #16 - Inverted Eli Hop

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the sixteenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a hop trick that was made popular by 2011 Asia Pacific 1A Champion, Christopher Chia. The Eli Hop is a simple yo-yo hop that yo-yo players around the world has come to love. But in 2011, Christopher Chia did a variation of the simple hop, adding the Inverted Eli Hop into his AP winning routine and that made the trick famous.

Now, from time to time, you will see this trick performed in contest freestyles all over. Again, just like the Over the Arm hops, we recommend that you know how to do Eli Hops, and do it consistently. Once you have got that down pat, the Inverted Eli Hop is just a slight modification to that trick.

This is yet another 'big' looking trick that is excellent for freestyles or performances. So be sure to master your Eli Hops, and then the Inverted Eli Hop, and these tricks will visually add more to all your freestyles!

As always if you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #15 - Over the Arm Hops

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the fifteenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a hop trick that is modern and cool! The Over the Arm Hops, was made popular by John Ando in the late 2000s/early 2010s. With his unique and insanely creative tricks, John is still one of the few players who push the boundaries of trick creation and trick presentation.

For this trick, we recommend that you know how to do Eli Hops, Boing-Boing as well as over the arm elements like over the arm trapeze, etc. Once you are confident with all these tricks, then give the Over the Arm Hops a try and you should be able to get it.

This is one trick that is definitely great for freestyles, performances or just showing off to your friends. Why? Because it is a 'big' trick that involves lots of movement and uses more space around your body. What's more, this trick is not too difficult to learn or master.

As always if you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #14 - Reverse Brent Stole

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the fourteenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a cool, 'banger-esque' trick from the new school generation of Spinners. Presenting to you, the Reverse Brent Stole! The trick Brent Stole became really popular during the mid 2000s, and variations to that trick was slowly developed. One of the cool variations was the reverse version of the trick.

This trick will become easy to pull off when you understand the main concept of how to do the Brent Stole trick, and then understand how the Reverse version works. We won't go into a step by step description for this trick, as it has been explained well in the video. However, one major thing to remember whenever you are doing any Brent Stole variations, is that for the yo-yo to get into a Green Triangle, the string segment that is attached to your throwing finger MUST be in between the yo-yo and the string slack.

When learning this trick, be sure to understand how the Brent Stole works first. Once you get that perfect, give the Reverse Brent Stole a try. You can practice on a dead yo-yo first to simulate the motion and momentum of the whole trick setup before trying it spinning. This trick may be a tough one to get in your first few tries, but as long as you got the concept down, you will be able to hit it sooner rather than eventually.

This is one of our favorite tricks to do, and it looks really impressive when demonstrating tricks to friends or family. Be sure to learn and master this!

As always if you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #13 - Slack Trapeze

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the thirteenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a classic string trick from the early 2000s. Presenting to you, the one-and-only, Slack Trapeze! The Slack Trapeze was a really popular trick back when slacks were just starting to get popular. One player who used the slack trapeze in his freestyle to win the US National contest is none other than legendary player, Jason Lee.

This trick is relatively easy to pull off. First throw a Breakaway and hold the yo-yo string about 1-2 inches above the spinning yo-yo. Next, wrap the 'slacked' string around your throw hand index finger. When you are ready to perform the Slack Trapeze, throw that string that is wrapped around your index finger over your non-throwing hand and 'slack' that string segment into the yo-yo. Just when the slack hits the yo-yo and enters the string gap, release the pinch on your non-throw hand and you have just performed the Slack Trapeze.

When learning this trick, take your time to get the slack right and make sure the yo-yo enters the front of the slack (not the back).

This is a fun trick to do, and was one of the important compulsory tricks back in the day.

As always if you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #12 - 1 String Whip

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the twelfth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a cool bind trick that practically every Spinner, entry level or advanced level, must know and be able to perform. This trick is the 1-String Whip.

This trick is easy to explain, not too difficult to do and simply just a must-know kind-of trick. We won't go into explaining how to do the trick as the video does it well. However, we would like to point out that the 1-String Whip works very well when you are whipping the string into the yo-yo, with the yo-yo spinning in the opposite direction. (E.G. Frontstyle throw WITH Sidestyle 1-String Whip)

When learning this trick, take your time to understand the concept of how this trick works and you will be guaranteed to be able to do it 100% of the time.

As always if you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #11 - Finger Spin UFO

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the eleventh trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a trick that is really cool and something we absolutely love to do! The Finger Spin UFO has been a very popular trick in recent years, and many creative and innovative players have not only done this trick, but added a unique and creative spin on it. However, we are here to teach you the basic Finger Spin UFO.

The idea of this trick is simple in concept, but difficult to execute for a new spinner. However, with time and practice, just like any trick, you'll be able to get it. There are many different things you will need to do before getting into this trick. Firstly, you must be able to do a throw that sets you up for 'Frontstyle' Horizontal tricks. This involves throwing the yo-yo that is practically parallel to the ground.

Once you have got that down, you will need to learn how to do a Finger Spin.

The next thing you'll need to perfect is the single string whip that is normally done to bind the yo-yo.

When you have mastered all these 3 different things, you are ready to put together and attempt the Finger Spin UFO!

When learning this trick, the important thing to note is not to rush! Take your time and perfect each step before progression onto the next step. At first this trick may be tough to hit, but practice, watch and study the trick to understand how the trick is executed.

This trick may be tough and as always if you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to get this down.

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #10 - Undermount Whip

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the tenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a trick that is simple in concept, but a little more difficult to execute. Just like the other tricks before it, the Undermount Whip is a great entry to a long freestyle-esque combo. Performing this whip allows the player to get into this mount quickly and move into his/her combos fast. This trick has been used by Marcus regularly as an entry to his speedy combos. It may be a very subtle maneuver, but getting it right takes practice!

When learning this trick, the important thing to note is to keep your hands slightly closer together when performing the whip so that the string slack stays long. At first this trick may be tough to hit, but watch and study the video in slo-mo to understand how the yo-yo moves as the trick comes around to be whipped in. Once you get the motion of the yo-yo and the string right, the rest should be easy.

If you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #9 - Speed Combo

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the ninth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a trick that is definitely one that you must learn if you are intending to compete at freestyle contests anytime soon! This trick will add style, pizzazz and points to your freestyle. Modern tricks these days don't really have proper names, so this trick will just be known as the Speed Combo. Again, this is one of the tricks that Marcus has utilized often during his contest performances to score quick points. Watching this trick being performed is really impressive when done smoothly and fast, but it takes lots of practice to perfect.

We shan't go into describing how to pull off this trick step-by-step, you should be able to pick that up through the video. However, just remember that when learning and practicing this trick for the first time, go slow and make sure you know what is happening to each string segment. This trick is a great trick to add on to to lengthen your own combos so we highly recommend you learn this trick!

If you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #8 - Pseudo Wristmount Whip

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the eighth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a trick that is cool, flashy and flowy. This trick is slightly more modern as compared to our past offerings, and this trick is named the Pseudo Wristmount Whip. This is one of the tricks that Marcus has utilized often and to maximum effect in his freestyles.

This trick is a great trick to add, or develop, combos from. We highly recommend you learning and getting this trick right!

If you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this trick!

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #7 - Pop N Fresh

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the seventh trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a trick that ALL yo-yo players looking to compete and perform must know. The trick is the Pop N Fresh. The Pop N Fresh trick was created back in the late 1990 to early 2000s by Gary Longoria (who also brought you the trick Seasick). Watching this trick being performed is really impressive, but it issnt as hard to do as it looks. It just takes some practice to get right.

To perform the Pop N Fresh, just get into a frontstyle Mach 5 mount, and then pop the yo-yo up in the air, cross your hands, and land into a Split Bottom Mount. Following this, pop the yo-yo up hitting the top string and cross your hands again and land back into a Mach 5 mount. Repeat this for as many repetitions as you can, and there you have the Pop N Fresh.

Pop N Fresh is a very popular trick to put in freestyle combos, and it has been done by many, many players over the years. One player who has used Pop N Fresh in his freestyles is 4x World Champion, Hiroyuki Suzuki. Again, for this trick, take your time, practice it slowly, and you should get it in no time.

If you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!
