Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #4 - Kamikaze Whip
Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick
Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set
of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn
to rack up points during contests.
The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.
For the forth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a classic string trick element that every advanced Spinner must know. The sidestyle Mach 5 mount, or better known as the Kamikaze Mount, was made famous by tricks like Kamikaze. So back in the early 2000s, a quicker way to get into the Kamikaze Mount was thought up, and the Kamikaze Whip was featured in tricks like Kamikaze 2: Yellow Airplanes and other advanced tricks from that era.
The Kamikaze Whip is getting into a regular Trapeze, then wrapping the string around your throw-hand index to 'whip' the string loop around the yo-yo (on the Trapeze), getting into the Kamikaze Mount. This trick looks really cool, and is very fun to do. Practice it, and you'll get it in no time!

to rack up points during contests.
The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.
For the third trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have yet another classic string trick that every advanced Spinner must know, the Suicide! Suicides are not something new in the skill toy world. Suicides have been done in things like Diabolo and even kendama, and was translated into a yo-yo trick way back around the 1999-2001 era. Players in the USA were messing around with tricks and Paul Escolar, trick innovator, realised that instead of always holding onto the yo-yo string, you could actually release it and that was how the yo-yo Suicide was born!
The Suicide is essentially just getting the yo-yo onto the string into a Trapeze and swinging it over your throw-hand and catching the loop back again. Sounds and seems easy, but alot of practice is needed to perfect the Suicide trick.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.
For the second trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a classic string trick that every advanced Spinner must know, the Kwijibo! The Kwijibo was a trick that was created back in the late 1990s by players over in the USA. Back then, string tricks were still open to lots of creativity and one of the earliest string tricks was the Kwijibo. This trick got its name from an early Simpsons episode, when Homer made up this word during a Scrabble game and tried to convince everyone it was a real word.
The Kwijibo basically takes 3 different mounts and puts them all together. The Trapeze, the 1.5 sidestyle mount and the Double or Nothing. Hoping from one mount to the other makes up the Kwijibo trick.

Summer Kendama Jam 2016
The
Summer Kendama Jam is back again but this year, we are teaming up with the great people
from Jam Republic, Recognize Studios, 37thdama, Cereal Kendama & SFB Kendama to bring this to
you.
Date: 16 March 2016
Place: Scape Outdoor Tent
Time: 12pm to 7pm
Entry Fee: $10 (Online) / $15 (At door) (Free Limited Edition T-shirt)
So what is going to happen?
Everyone taking part in the Jam competition will need to undergo a Preliminary trick list.
Upon
completion of the Preliminary trick list, we will announce the
competitors who are streamlined into the Beginner, Intermediate and
Advanced categories. Do note that competitors DO NOT GET TO CHOOSE which
category they belong to. It solely depends on their Preliminary
tricklist results.
For
the Beginner category, all beginner competitors will need to complete a
list of tricks (Ladder) and the ones who complete the fastest will move
on to the Finals which is also a list of tricks that they must
complete.
For
the Intermediate category, all intermediate competitors will have to undergo a Consistency Ladder challenge. In each group of competitors, each person will need to
do this list of tricks in sequence. The competitor who complete the list of tricks in the fastest time will move on to the finals.
For
the Advanced category, all advanced competitors will have to do a
3-minute challenge/freestyle based on a fixed list of tricks in the same way the
Kendama World Cup is scored.

Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #1 - 1-Hand Rejection
Throw Revolution, together with us, have released a set of Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.
The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.
First up is the 1-Hand Rejection. These rejections were made popular by Singapore Spinners back 2010/2011. At his 2011 Asia Pacific Yo-Yo Championships freestyle, Christopher Chia made these rejections popular and since then, it makes for an interesting element to add in any combo trick.

SHOWCASE Vol.10 (19 March 2016)
SHOWCASE Vol.10 is coming up next, and is the first for 2016! Back to some serious stuff! Time to start practicing, honing and prepare yourself for the 2016 contest season.
What: SHOWCASE Vol.10
When: 19 March 2016 (Saturday)
Time: 2.00pm - 6.00pm
Where: Level 5 Recognize Studios at Orchard Central
Who: Absolutely anybody can take part
Fee: Free!! (But if you want to sign up after registration has closed, there will be a $10 fee)

There
will be the regular 2 main events for SHOWCASE Vol.10. They are the 2 minute freestyle
divisions, namely the 1A Division and the combined X Division.

SHOWCASE Vol.10, the rules are simple and just like Vol.9 without the mystery rule. Full Evaluation scoring (if you
don't understand this, go to the more info link above) and Major
Deductions only.
We
are excited to see everyone come together again for SHOWCASE and
throw-down and chill before embarking on practice for the new season.
Remember, at SHOWCASE, we wanna see your very best tricks, to have fun
and to get in some crucial practice time in front of an audience.
As
always, we are requesting for community-based volunteers to judge at
the event. So please do us a favour and sign up as a judge if you do not
wish to compete!

benefits the volunteers as they get to learn how to judge AND they get
to learn how to improve on their own freestyles by understanding how
freestyles are clicked and scored. (If you wish to volunteer as a judge,
fill in the registration form as well). ***
